Joe Schaffer Wins At New Smyrna, Rogers takes points lead

In round one of the SRST Southern Super Series playoffs presented by Our Insurance Options, 27 drivers attempted to qualify for the 25 car field.  Once qualifying was set, the top 10 cars were inverted placing Russell Brown Jr on the pole and fast time qualifier Joe Schaffer would start 10th.  As the race got underway, playoff contender AJ Rogers would move up from his 6th place starting position and take the lead on lap 24.  The lead would last for 32 laps until Joe Schaffer got by and never looked back.  Joe would go on and pick up his first win of the season and his 6th ever SRST racing victory.

Top Five:

  1. Joe Schaffer
  2. AJ Rogers
  3. TJ Graves
  4. Adam Josselyn
  5. Royce Scrivano

Some major playoff contender headlines to note leaving New Smyrna as the tour heads to South Boston.  Logan Runyon missed the New Smyrna 150 due to prior obligations in testing an ARCA car at Daytona.  Kris Stump is in a hole after getting collected in an early wreck and finishing 21st.  Adam Mattox finished 19th after JP Penuel pushed up into him while battling position.  Mattox was unable to continue and has a lot of catching up to do if he plans to advance to the finale.
